Nigeria’s telecommunications giant, Globacom, commonly referred to as Glo, has lent its support to yet another grassroots competition, marking the 7th edition of the event known as the Alimosho Grassroots Championship.

The Africa’s biggest and best telecommunications network was present at the opening ceremony of the football competition, which was skillfully organized by Bacayada Media Entertainment. Glo’s presence was prominently displayed with flag poles, banners, and gazebos strategically positioned throughout the mini stadium at the Omituntun Football Field, located on Ola Akinpelu Street, Akowonjo, Lagos.

The tournament featured eight registered football clubs, specifically: Skipo FC, Shasha Athletic FC, SGH Sports, Columbia FC, Yahoo Junction FC, City Boyz, Idimu All Stars, and Santos FC. This event culminated in a final match between City Boyz FC and Columbia FC, held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Omituntun Football Pitch, also known as Pako Field.

Globacom once again demonstrated its generosity by providing various gift items, including carrier bags and wristbands. To the delight of football enthusiasts, Glo surprised attendees with the distribution of several Bluetooth headsets. The recipients of these free gifts will undoubtedly cherish the memorable experience created by Globacom.

City Boy FC showcased their prowess by defeating Columbia FC with a score of 2-1, thereby claiming the prestigious trophy. Barrister Mbamalu Valentine, a dedicated supporter of grassroots initiatives and the CEO of Doing Bitters/Touch of Valentine Homes and LUNA City, was present at the venue to award the trophy to City Boyz FC’s captain, Uche Peter, and to present medals to the members of the winning team.

Mr. Attah Lawrence, MD/CEO of Street Connect, a prominent travel agency in Lagos, also supported the sporting event with his resources and attendance.
