CSP Hauwa Idris Adamu HonoursProphet Olawale Ikotun, Strengthens Police–Community Ties in Ipaja

By Daniel Ekiye

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ipaja Division, CSP Hauwa Idris Adamu, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, paid a strategic visit to Hightower Church as part of ongoing efforts to deepen community engagement and strengthen security collaboration in Ipaja.

The visit, which took place during the church’s Sunday Goodness Service, was aimed at raising awareness about the proactive measures being undertaken by the Nigeria Police to curb nighttime criminal activities and restore lasting peace across the Ipaja axis.

Addressing the congregation, CSP Hauwa expressed her honour at speaking before Olawale Ikotun, popularly known as Global Prophet R.O. Ikotun, whom she respectfully described as a father figure.

“It is a great privilege for me as the Divisional Police Officer of Ipaja Division to address Prophet R.O. Ikotun and this great and wonderful congregation. I am honoured,” she stated.

The DPO highlighted the challenges police officers face in discharging their constitutional duties, noting that law enforcement often operates under public scrutiny and misconception.

She emphasised that the police are committed to safeguarding lives and property without bias, even at personal risk.

“Engaging with the police can be quite challenging, as the general public often harbours negative sentiments towards us. We do not aim to victimise or intimidate anyone; rather, we make substantial sacrifices, including risking our lives and the well-being of our families, for the benefit of all,” she said.

Speaking on recent security developments, CSP Hauwa disclosed that the division has intensified its operations against criminal elements who had disrupted the tranquillity of Ipaja in recent months.

According to her, sustained surveillance, intelligence gathering, and strategic engagements have led to the apprehension and prosecution of several offenders.

“Residents of the Ipaja area over the past five to six months can attest to the transformation occurring. While you rest, we observe their activities, engage them, apprehend them, and bring them before the court,” she added.

In a significant moment during the service, the DPO, alongside officers and personnel under her command, presented an award to Prophet Ikotun and the entire Hightower Global Church in recognition of their support and positive engagement with the police.

Describing the gesture as a token of gratitude, she commended the cleric for fostering cooperation between the church and the police, despite prevailing public sentiments toward law enforcement.

“I will call him my father. He requested, he listened, and he fulfilled. That is huge — a great deal to the Nigerian Police.

That is why myself and all personnel of Ipaja Division deemed it fit to present this little token from hearts filled with gratitude and respect. Even though people don’t love the police, he still shows us love,” she concluded.

The visit underscores ongoing efforts by the Ipaja Division to build trust, encourage community policing, and consolidate recent gains recorded in the fight against crime within the axis.
