Former presidential candidate and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has been reportedly shot by a police operative in Abuja.
It was gathered that Sowore was shot on Monday by a female police officer at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
The politician cum activist has been rushed to hospital for medical treatment, Naija News understands.
Lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, made this known on Twiter.
He wrote: “@YeleSowore has just been shot by a female police officer at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.”
“The criminal officer is said to be an ACP. I watched Sowore being shot live on Facebook.”
“This is what Nigeria has been turned into under Buhari. They’ve declared war on the Civic Space.”
Later, he gave another update where he noted that the officer might have fired a tear gas cannister instead of a gun but he insisted that Sowore was targeted by the officer.
“It is not yet clear whether the officer fired a gun or a teargas cannister. What is clear is that Sowore was directly targeted.”
