Star Chineze Odeluga shines from Nigeria to America

Today Chineze Odeluga received award of honour as the Distinguished Graduate Of Ivy Tech College, Lake County for class of 2025. When they say that there is no hiding place for a gold fish, that exactly represents the very essence and purpose of Chineze Odeluga who before she left for America were the Most Resourceful student of Mary wood girls College in Nigeria.
The congratulatary letter from Ivy Tech College, Lake County which was signed by Dr. Dale C. Downs read and I quote ” This award recognises not only your academic excellence but also your Outstanding leadership, Service and Personal growth. Your contributions have made a meaningful impact on our campus and in the community. You truly represent the very best of what Ivy Tech College stands for.

Ms Odeluga moved to the U.S A. In 2023 from Nigeria at the age of 16 to study nursing at Ivy Tech College, Her passion, commitment, enthusiasm , compassion and dedication deepened her love for patient care and reinforced her burning desire for health care,
Chineze Odeluga stands out amongst her peers as she is not just graduating with associate degree in nursing, she also emerged as the best.
Ms Odeluga while on campus, is the Vice president of Student Government Association , President of the Empower Her Initiative, Public Relations Officer for the Black Student Union, Vice president of Phi Theta Kappa, Secretary of the nursing organization and member of the STEM Club Off campus… she also volunteers with the national MS Society Franciscan Health and the Lake County Public Library Summer Reading Program.
One of her proudest achievements was helping to organise an African cultural event for Black Student Union , where the group made history by introducing students to the rich heritage of Africa. This experience reinforced again her belief in the power of representation and cultural appreciation.

After this graduation, Ms Odeluga plans to begin a career as a registered nurse while pursuing a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She credits Ivy Tech with providing a strong foundation in her field as well as support from faculty, peers and uncle Dr. Kanayo Odeluga and family for helping her navigate the challenges of adjusting to a new Country, with different culture and educational systems
She poured an emotional encomium on her parents Mr Chinemelu Odeluga and Lady Francisca Odeluga who she said made growing up very beautiful and wonderful for her
She thanked her siblings for being her rock and gave all glory to God Almighty who made everything possible in her life.
