Ahmad Lawan, President of the 9th Senate, has denied saying power must shift to South-West for 2023 presidency.
“Please kindly note that this statement being credited to the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Lawan was made by the Secretary of Adamawa APC who goes by the name Ahmed Lawal. Emphasis on Ahmed Lawal,” the office of the top lawmaker tweeted on Monday.
Ahmad Lawan further more said “This is a misrepresentation of fact and identity”
There were reports at the weekend that the newly elected lawmaker endorsed power shift to the Yoruba predominantly region in 2023.
Some party chieftains in the All Progressive Congress (APC) are of the opinion that the North must retain power beyond 2023 when the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari winds down.
