The newly constructed link bridge…

By Isaac Orieka and Alphonsus Effi

Ambassador Prince Yommy Ogungbe, Chairman of De-Prinocc Construction Company Limited is an image, a symbol, a picture of the youths representing the best example of his profession or some doing. He is an icon in business; he personifies legality and good business sense.
The sprawling landscape of the Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has emerged from the forest of yesteryears, and now gradually becoming a large community with an integral road network, homes, offices, shops and social amenities and facilities.

The idea to build a motorized link bridge in Oke-Ogbere/Bucknor (Oke-Afa Canal) didn’t fall from the heavens. Someone took the decision to put the structure on ground. When the link bridge was commissioned on Dec 5, 2019, the boundary communities which the Ogbere linked came alive with relief and excitement.

Prince Ogungbe became a crowd puller of a progressive, enterprising men and women, young and old, media, Obas, Baales, traditional rulers, council chairmen, from all walks of life in Lagos. Including musicians like Dr. Saheed Osupa, Eyo, Zangbetan Masquerade group from Egun, corporate organizations, banks etc.

Rated as one of the best link bridges ever to be constructed and cited in an unknown local community in Ogbere by a singular individual, in partnership with the National Water Inland Waterways Authorities (NIWA), the project falls under the control of this agency so dues are remitted yearly to NIWA.
As a passionate energetic community builder, the link bridge connects motorists and pedestrians to Bucknor, Ronick, Jakande gate, Isheri-Osun, Ijegun, Ikotun Road, LASU, Igando Road, and Ijagemo-Ijedodo from the Oke-Afa Canal waterside in Isolo LCDA, Aso Rock Community.
For commuters who want to avert the rigorous traffic stress from Cele Express to Ikotun; Mile II to Igando this link bridge is a relief and you will be at your destination in a short while.
This ground project has opened up the communities to people who live, work and sell goods and services. Also, complementary services, such as schools, hospitals, filling stations, churches, and mosques including artisans, petty traders, security have become increasingly important to them. Residents of the communities are now discovering that individuals, not only local, state, or federal government can develop and improve the society which they met.

Creekvibes magazine, gathered that the link bridge is perfectly and technical constructed to help decongest traffic gridlock in the area, a 24-hours dual Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), installed like the Lekki toll gate in Victoria Island. A 100KVA standby generator to illuminate the bridge at night. It also has a mini market, a restaurant, for passers-by and residents as well as security patrols from neighbouring police stations which is complemented by the local vigilante group in the community to ensure safety of lives and property.

This noble event and commissioning surprisingly took place alongside the celebration of Oke-Ogbere Community day to confirm their support and the vision the community shares with Prince (Amb.) Ogungbe as a turnaround management expert, in building and construction, property development, estate and property management, bridges and roads/community development etc. High Chief Tajudeen Amoo Orilowo, the Baale of the community was overwhelmed at the commissioning and said the link bridge will be jealously protected as it has provided employment for the youths who until now were jobless. He confirmed to Creekvibes magazine.
The light of Lagos, Prince Ogubgbe, during the commissioning by the chairman of the occasion Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, former Minister for state defense, stated that when he was approached to cheer the commissioning he never hesitated because he knew the caliber of person the Prince is, so he obliged. Continuing, he praised the foresight investment drive, energy, innovation in a specialised transport department where investors who are wealthier than the CEO of De-Prinocc never put their money.

For him, “He urged the community residents, stakeholders, government to encourage such laudable initiative to encourage Nigerian Construction Companies, like De-Prinocc to continue to provide this kind of services at a modest cost so that other communities lacking in projects like this can benefit to enhance their living standard”.
Though, Minister for State Transportation, Hon. Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki and the Lagos State Area Manager of NIWA, Sarat Braimah, were unavoidably absent, but they were ably represented by their aides at the commissioning which was celebrated with pomp and pageantry.
Comedians, musical groups thrilled the crowd to various dance steps to add colour and panache to the occasion.
The King of songs, Dr. Saheed Osupa moved the crowd with his fans chorusing to some of his popular lyrics with some awesome passion likened to the sound of the orchestra in Italy.
Creekvibes magazine spoke to some residents and their thoughts were in unison, they said they have not witnessed such a massive project like this with the interest of several communities in Isolo LCDA. That Prince Ogungbe is a triumphant human being blessed by God to uplift humanity. They also advocated that the state government should do more to help them open up roads, waterways, etc.
The Prince has functioned above the system (called Nigeria), has paid attention to details to attain near perfection. Therefore, he has imbibed the biblical teaching of not neglecting the opportunity to help which has given birth to the 3rd link bridge, by De-Prinocc which is the new baby in Oke-Ogbere/Bucknor (Oke-Afa Canal) and that of Ajegunle linking boundary market, the first, and the foot bridge linking Ago-Okota to Ijesha expressway which is the second. He started and finished well with this current link bridge and it was a joy of a glorious finish. The link bridge is safe, always within budget, saves pocket money, sure way to pass day and night.
