Nigeria’s Bukky Bakray WINS EE Rising Star Award

Bakray was astonished to have heard her name as the winner of EE Rising Star Award winner at the Bafta, she reacted to a footage which reveals the moment she screamed for joy.

She said; “Thank you God!, Thank you God! Thank you my parents, my mum is here, thank you for doing everything for me, thank you to my brothers with the Black Sopranos, thank for the Rocksfamily, I have never meet women like you in my life. She wishes DMX to sleep well, sleep well to everyone that died this year and last year.” @bafta Tweeter handle.

Brilliant Bukky Bakray, British born of Nigerian descend was born in Hackney, East London to a Christian Nigerian parents and grew up on an estate in Lower Clapton near where Rocks was filmed.

She has three brothers and a sister who lives in South Africa. She attended an all girls’ school.

Bakray joined the RADA Youth Company and enrolled in the Originate Actor Training programme at Theatre Peckham.

Bukky 21, is a British actress known for her debut role in the 2019 film Rocks. At age 19, she became the youngest BAFTA Rising Star Award recipient as well as earning a Best Actress nomination. She was discovered at her school when she was 15 by director Sarah Gavron.

She has upcoming roles in the film Self-Charm and the BBC One series You Don’t Know Me.
