(Video) Ex-Sheffield Utd player wins £1m lottery…burst into tears

A former professional footballer was given a late birthday surprise when he found out he’d won a seven-figure sum on the lottery in a video currently making the rounds on social media

The former Sheffield United defender Terry Kennedy was seen bursting with emotion as he found out he’d just won £1million on the lottery.

Kennedy, who turned 27 on Monday, was given a late birthday treat on Wednesday when he found out the news.

The former defender’s career was cut short in 2018 when he was forced to retire from professional footballer following a series of injuries.

The lottery worker then asked: “Do you want to sit down? I can confirm that you have won £1m.”

According to Dailystar, the announcement was met with huge cheers as Kevin and his work colleagues celebrated the confirmation of his win.

Kennedy spent five years playing for Sheffield United

The ex-defender made his debut for the Blades in 2011, before departing the club five years later after making 19 appearances, with a loan at Cambridge United in between.

Kennedy then went on to play for the likes of Alfreton Town and Harrogate Town in the National League North until his early retirement three years ago.
