Cristiano Ronaldo desperate to stop release of Las Vegas rape claim files

Cristiano Ronaldo’s legal team have made one last effort in an attempt to stop the release of his alleged rape files.

The Portuguese stars’ lawyers have filed a ‘motion for protective order’ to stop police from handing them to the New York Times in hopes of keeping the files sealed.

Ronaldo’s team claim the 400 papers are privileged and contain “libellous” statements.

The Manchester United legend has been accused of raping model Kathryn Mayorga in a penthouse suite 12 years ago.

And according to the Mirror, Police are determined to release details that include the crime report, statements and arrest warrants.

Ronaldo has denied all claims made by the 37-year-old.

Ms Mayorga is pursuing the footballer through a Las Vegas court, demanding £56million in damages and costs.

Mayorga claims she was sexually assaulted at Palms Casino Resort on June 13, 2009.

The 37-year-old has claimed she met Ronaldo at Rain nightclub, and she was then among a group invited to his room before giving her clothes to use in the hot tub.

However, Ms Mayorga then alleges that after asking to leave, the Manchester United player assaulted her.

A judge recommended that the case be thrown out of court after her lawyers failed to disclose files that were handed to them by hacker Football Leaks.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s lawyers claim the proceedings are confidential and Ms Mayorga’s lawyers “unlawfully” obtained the files.

The Mirror have revealed that Ms Mayorga’s lawyers asked for the papers to stay out of the hands of third-party publications, such as the New York Times, unless ruled privileged via court.
