Morocco vs Croatia Preview, Lineups, Odds, Prediction

Morocco vs. Croatia World Cup, lineups, odds for FIFA Qatar 2022 match

Four years on from losing the 2018 World Cup final, Croatia will be eager to start their 2022 tournament on the right foot against Morocco.

Both sides need a positive early result with world No.2 Belgium also in Group F and looming as strong favourites to top the section.

Morocco beat Georgia 3-0 in a friendly just prior to the World Cup but they may struggle to match it with a Croatian side in form and spurred on by their 2018 heartbreak.

This clash will kickoff at 1 p.m. local time in Qatar meaning the heat could play a factor at Al Bayt Stadium.

Croatia made the World Cup final in 2018, but with their stars now four years older, and in the absence of a new generation of bona fide difference makers, some believe that the European side might be ripe for a group-stage exit.

Morocco’s defense-first approach and talented attackers will provide the first Group F test at the Al Bayt Stadium as Croatia look to prove themselves all over again.

Here’s how you can watch all the action in the major global territories.

Morocco vs. Croatia lineups

Morocco will be without the likes of Ez Abde, Tarik Tissoudali and Amine Harit for this match due to injury but Youssef En-Nesyri is fit again. They used a 3-4-3 last time out but will likely revert to a more defensive formation for this clash.

Morocco (4-3-3, right to left): 1. Bono (GK) — 25. Allah, 5. Aguerd, 3. Mazraoui, 2. Hakimi  — 8. Ounahi, 10. Zaroury, 6. Saiss — 17. Boufal 9. Hamdallah, 7. Ziyech.

Croatia have been spared any injury blows to date with both Marcelo Brozovic and Domagoj Vida able to shake off concerns. Luka Modric is a certainty to start after only being used as a substitute in their last match.

Croatia (4-1-4-1, right to left): 1. Livakovic (GK) — 2. Stanisic, 6. Lovren, 5. Erlic, 3. Barisic — 10. Modric — 4. Persic, 8. Kovacic, 7. Majer, 13. Vlasic — 9. Kramaric.

Morocco vs. Croatia odds, prediction

Croatia is the strong favourite to win this match but the smart money could be on a draw which presents good value.

Morocco aren’t a team to underestimate and boast enough star players to cause Croatia some serious concerns. The warmer conditions could also limit the damage either team can do in front of goal.

Prediction: 1-1 draw
