Nelly Okoro: Put your hope in God to succeed in life
Upcoming super actress, Nelly Okoro, an indigene of Abia State, Ohafia Local Government to be precise.
The 26 years old thespian grew up in a military formation, she attended Army Children School for her primary education and Army Command Secondary school respectively in the rechristened 14 Brigade, Ebele Jonathan Army Barrack in Abia State.
According to her, she is just barely a year in the make-believe industry and has featured in some movies, ‘Best Friend in Life’, ‘Mother’s Negligence’ and ‘The Career’ captured her dexterity.
The lead character in ‘The Career,’ said, ‘“The movie titled The Career is about a lady who studied hard while in the university, and came out with good grades but couldn’t find a suitable job.
Her brother who happens to be a stylist asked her to join him in the hair-making business but she refused. She said, ‘I cannot do people’s hair with my qualification as a first-class graduate, no know come off it.’”
She came in while her brother was talking with his friends concerning his marriage arrangement and she overheard them talking about a caterer that intended to milk her brother dry, at that point, she told them she can handle the cooking if they could give her a trial, they did and it went smoothly.
She was later given a job offer but before she resumes the boss want her to sleep with him in a hotel while she was contemplating what to do, her brother told her to pick up the catering job as a full-time job she heeded and dropped her certificate for the catering job.

What have you learned concerning life?
I’ve learnt not to put my hope in people.
OK, who were the people you were building your hopes on?
I had hopes in my family members but in the end, I was let down.
Why did you build your hopes on your family members, were your parents not ready to train you in the higher institution?
My mother has six children and my father had two other children from another woman which makes us eight in number.
Does that mean that you are from a Polygamous home?
Not necessarily so but he has eight children and I am the first daughter and second to the last child, so I thought with my elder brothers and uncles I wouldn’t have problems going to university after my Secondary school education.
Why did he (her father) not train you?
After my WAEC nobody came to my aid concerning my tertiary education and my father could not afford the fees due to his little income from his driving job
I had always wanted to be a nurse though I scored 250 in JAMB while my elder brother scored 282.
Did your father train your brother?
Yes, he did; my brother graduated but he has no job.
After sitting at home for some time so, I decided to take the auxiliary nurse option. I did the training for three years and I was also employed but then things were not the way I want them. So I decided to leave my comfort zone to break even, I am now in Lagos and I am into the movie industry full time, and believe lines will fall in proper places for me soon.
