The Former Vice Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt, Professor Nimi Briggs, is Dead.
A close family source revealed that Prof. Briggs, who was also a Pro-Chancellor of Bayelsa Medical University died in the early hours of today (Monday).
This was contained in a statement released by the family.
The late Prof. was a Nigerian academic and Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
He was also the 5th Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, from 2000-2005.
President Muhammadu Buhari, described Nimi Briggs as an academic who lived for the good of the country and humanity.
He also condoled with his surviving family, urging them to keep the professor emeritus’ legacy alive.
Buhari’s condolence message is contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, titled ‘President Buhari consoles family of late Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Prof Nimi Briggs, 79’.
The University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State has declared 5 days of mourning on the death of the professor, beginning from Monday 10- Friday 14 April 2023.
