Dr Doris Ochei Honoured Home, Abroad

It is rare to find people who are honoured at their very homes and at the same time outside their homes. This assumption is not new and even the Bible emphasised on it in the Book of Mark 6:4.
In that part of the holy Book, the Lord said “a prophet is treated with honor everywhere except in his own hometown, among his relatives, and in his own house.”
The implication is that, it is always very difficult to satisfy your people, no matter what you do, simply because they know you in and out from Adam. Apart, from that, people seem not to value what they already have. They therefore, tend to value more, what is somewhat out of their reach whether good or bad.
However, Dr Ochei has broken that jinx, balancing the acceptance and applause she receives from her people with that received abroad. No doubt, the philanthropist is highly placed and honoured at both sides because of her brain, humane mien, humility and kindness. She is the cynosure of all eyes right from Ubulu-Uku, where she was born, Onicha Olona where she is married and in other parts of the world. Just like a golden fish, she is easily spotted largely, due to her positive ways of life.
It would be recalled that leading community online publishing platform, Ubulu Ezemu rolled out drums in December, 2022 to celebrate Dr Ochei for her philanthropic gestures and her giant strides in community development. At the end of the day, Dr Ochei went home with two prestigious awards: Phintrophist of The Year 2022 and Community Development Icon of The Year 2022, which was applauded by all and sundry.
Before Ubulu Ezemu honoured Dr Ochei, she had already pocketed a lot of different awards to her kitty; even at that, most people believe strongly, that the grassroot award bestowed on her by Ubulu Ezemu, where she was born, made a very bold statement, as it is often said that “Charity Begins at Home”. Ubulu Ezemu Award is therefore, seen as a true endorsement of exactly what the woman is. It also re-emphasises the fact, that the recipient is worthy of honour both at home and abroad.
Nonetheless, the latest among the numerous awards that Dr Ochei is taking home is that, given to her by the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) Award, a honour for her selfless service to her community and humanity.
At about the time she was recovering from the pleasant surprise sprang up by NIM, she received yet another message, this time from a reputable international organisation.
The message was that, she is going to be honored by a global International Decade People of African Descent, in an event, African Diaspora Living Legend Award, 2023. This time, Dr Ochei would be honoured specially in far away Germany.
According to the invitation, “the Award Committee has the pleasure to announce that Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei Foundation, DAOF, will be honored with the Global Icon for Community Development & Humanitarian Services 2023 Award in Frankfurt, Germany”.
