Uchenna joins NDC in pursuit of sustainable development

Honourable Harris Uchenna Okonkwo, the recipient of the Creekvibes Most Outstanding Grassroots Politician of The Year 2025 award, a dedicated representative of the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, has elevated his political career by transitioning to the Nigeria Democratic Congress to enhance his commitment to effective representation. His speech below reads in part
Today, I officially purchased the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Expression of Interest Form, reaffirming my decision to seek re-election into the House of Representatives to continue the journey of sustainable development, effective representation, and purposeful leadership for the good people of Idemili North and South Federal Constituency.
My decision to seek another mandate is inspired by the need for continuity, consolidation of achievements, and the completion of several impactful projects currently ongoing across our constituency. Over the past years, I have remained committed to delivering quality representation through people-oriented initiatives, legislative interventions, and strategic engagements aimed at improving the lives of our people.
As your representative, I have sponsored about 15 bills, including key infrastructure-related bills designed to open more opportunities for development, economic growth, and social advancement within Idemili North and South. Beyond legislation, numerous constituency projects and empowerment programmes are already taking shape, many of which require continuity and experienced leadership to ensure their successful completion and expansion.
In responding to questions regarding the political dynamics within Idemili, I reiterated that the existing zoning arrangement still favors Idemili South, the zone from which I come. More importantly, returning to the National Assembly as a ranking member will position our constituency for greater opportunities, stronger legislative influence, and increased democratic dividends.
This re-election bid is not just about politics; it is about continuity, progress, and sustainable development for our people. I therefore call on all supporters, associates, stakeholders, and the entire people of Idemili North and South to key into the Obi/Kwankwaso with Uchechukwu 2027 (OKU Movement) as we collectively work towards a more prosperous and inclusive future for our constituency.
Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo
Deputy Chairman, House Committee on NAFDAC
Member Representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency
