UPDATE: Evacuation begins at collapsed building site between Lagos, Ogun border

The recent collapse of a two-storey building on Baale Road, near Ajuwon Bus Stop in Ogun State, has left many residents in shock as they grapple with the cause of the incident.
The tragic event occurred on Monday, resulting in the loss of three lives, while 12 individuals were rescued and subsequently transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Akiode Saheed, the South West Zonal Director of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) stated in an interview with Channels TV, “The building will be demolished to ground zero to ensure that no additional bodies remain trapped under the rubble.”
NEMA has confirmed that 12 individuals were rescued alive, while three were found deceased; officials from NEMA, SEMA, and the state governments were present to facilitate the safe removal of debris from the site of the collapse.
The Ogun State Materials Testing Department has collected samples for sand testing to ensure the collapse does not pose a risk to nearby structures.
An eyewitness, who introduced himself as Anthony, reported that only one male resident was able to escape before the building became entirely inaccessible.
