Ugandan former dictator Idi Amin Dada’s grandson, Aziz Abdul, faced disqualification during his participation in the Commonwealth Games.
The super-heavyweight boxer, Aziz Abdul, was disqualified during his match against England’s Damar Thomas.
The 25-year-old, boxer was trailing on all judges’ scorecards when the incident took place in the third round of the bout.
Prior to the fight, Abdul had expressed his ambition to become the new ‘King of Scotland’, reminiscent of his grandfather’s notorious declaration in 1976.
The super-heavyweight boxer, garnered negative attention at the Commonwealth Games after being disqualified from his super-heavyweight match against England’s Damar Thomas, with the incident drawing parallels to one of boxing’s most infamous insults: the Glasgow kiss.
The reason behind Idi Amin’s grandson’s disqualification
The 25-year-old, who is the grandson of the infamous Ugandan dictator Idi Amin Dada, was disqualified in the third round after his head made contact with Thomas’ chin during a clinch.
