Songbird, Actor Turning Persistence Into Stardom Path…my love life is private

For Sophia John Kalio, popularly known as Ngowari, her journey into entertainment has been defined by determination, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in God. A native of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, with roots extending to Cross River State, Ngowari has steadily carved a niche for herself as a musician, actress, content creator and entrepreneur.

Her latest single, “Specialone,” is currently gaining traction on music streaming platforms and receiving airplay on radio stations across Nigeria. The talented singer also disclosed that the official music video for the song will soon be released across streaming platforms and television screens.

Ngowari, who studied Finance and Banking at the University of Port Harcourt, has several songs to her credit, including Confam, Good Life, Clash, Kelechi, Omolope, Light, Faraway, Money and Blessings, among others.

Her growing profile was further boosted after she was named Creekvibes’ Golden Music Star of the Year 2026, an honour that reflects her rising influence in the entertainment industry.

Born the last of eight children, Ngowari enjoyed considerable affection and pampering while growing up. However, she says her comfortable childhood did not weaken her determination to pursue her dreams.

Asked by Creekvibes if she ever becomes impatient while waiting for her breakthrough, the singer said she remains optimistic about her future.

“I don’t feel impatient, but I am optimistic about it. And when it finally comes, I will tie my success to God, then to the less privileged, because as an orphan, I am one of them.”

Ngowari lost her parents about 15 years ago, an experience that has deeply influenced her outlook on life and her desire to give back to people facing similar challenges.

One of the biggest sacrifices she has made for her dreams was leaving her 9-to-5 job to concentrate fully on music and acting. She admitted that the decision was difficult, but ultimately gave her peace of mind.

“It was a tough choice. I tried to cope, but it wasn’t working. Then I took it to God, and at the end, here I am, at peace with what I am doing.”

On her personal life, Ngowari chose to keep her love life private. When asked whether she had ever turned down a lucrative acting role because of its content, she said she had yet to receive a role she considered unacceptable.

Reflecting on the challenges of building a career in entertainment, particularly as a woman, Ngowari said she has had several reasons to quit but refused to surrender.

“If consistency was a person, I am definitely one. I have had several reasons to quit, especially in the entertainment industry, where so much is expected. Being a woman and facing so many demands makes it even more frightening, but I held on tight, kept my head up and continued pushing, regardless of the obstacles trying to sway me. I’m still here.”

For Ngowari, success is not simply about fame or recognition. It is the product of faith, discipline, passion and perseverance.

“So, this is what I want the world to know about me: being a successful musician, actor, content creator and entrepreneur takes God, determination, passion and perseverance to sustain your achievement and forge ahead.”

As “Specialone” continues to make waves, Ngowari appears determined to turn every challenge she has faced into another chapter in a journey that is still unfolding. For a woman who has already chosen persistence over surrender, the next stage of her career may well be her most defining yet.
