Funke Akindele… time has come to address problem of bad governance in Nigeria
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in Lagos State, Funke Akindele, on Thursday, explained why she ventured into partisan politics.
The PDP governorship candidate in Lagos, Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, picked the Nollywood actress as his running mate earlier this week.
Akindele, who featured in a Channels Television programme, Politics Today, said she was tired of talking about bad governance in the state and the country as a whole.
She added that the time has come for Nigerians to do something about the problem and move the country forward.
She said: “We need to provide learning aids; train and retrain teachers. The women out there, we will empower them. We will provide vocational skill acquisition for them; export their talents.
“We need to have the data to proffer a solution; we can’t rebuild Lagos based on assumption. So we are working with a strategic team to get enough data, and I will touch more on that later. But majorly, I am coming in for the children, for the women, for the young people; to support the governor, without having to get a second opinion.
“We are determined to get professionals in various sectors. I am coming in to make a change. I know where the shoe pinches them. I know what the audience wants; I know what I go through also. What is important is that you are emotionally intelligent as a leader.”
