Kidnappers demands N150m for release of Prof Gertrude Njar

It was reported that the commissioner of Women Affairs, Prof Gertrude Njar was forcefully taken out of her official car by masked young men within the Mayne Avenue-Atamunu area of Calabar South on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
Journalist, Agba Jalingo confirmed the development on his Facebook page.
After eight days in captivity, the kidnappers have demanded N150 million for her release, according to an update shared by the publisher of Cross Rivers Watch.
Meanwhile, Cross River State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Eric Anderson, while announcing the unfortunate incident to journalists, said the police and the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Dr Alfred Mboto, had been contacted.
He also expressed worry that such an ugly development could take place in the heart of the town.
