Soludo fighting touts, illegal revenue collectors

Tricycle Operators in Anambra state have stated that despite some government official roles in keeping touts in the state , the governor is doing well in the fight against toutism and illegal revenue collections.

The Tricycle Operators stated this on Monday while inspecting some roads constructed by the governor in Awka Anambra state capital.

The Convener of Tricycle Operators under the umbrella of Anambra State Keke Drivers Forum AKDF comrade Osita Obi said that before Soludo assumed office the state was being controlled by touts and Agboros.
According to him, Keke drivers were being murdered for refusing to pay money to the touts and Agboros but today it no longer the same.

He said that Agboro is as old as Anambra State but they are happy that the governor is trying to stop illegal operations.

“Before now Keke drivers pay N7800 for bucket, registering their Keke with N50,000 , pat N5000 end of year party, ID card renewal with sum of N4500 and many others.
Today all of these activities have been stopped. Though, there are pockets of reported cases of touts and illegal revenue collection activities here and there but we are confident that the governor is fighting them and very soon they will all leave the state.
Fight against touts and illegal revenue collectors have been won to a reasonable extend ” he said.

He also stated that despite government officials interest in keeping the touts ,the level of touting and illegal revenue collection is going down .

He however called on the governor to establish Keke Drivers Management Committee to oversee the operation of tricycle Operators in the state .
According to him, if the Keke drivers management committee is in place it would help maintain discipline on the roads, noting that some tricycles Operators are not behaving well in the road.
“If the Keke drivers management committee is established it will help the government to get more of them into tax net , it will also help to maintain sanity among Keke drivers on the roads. Keke business is better manage by the operators and not traditional unionist”he said
