A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, Hon. Kelechi Odoeme, has hosted and formally welcomed new members of the party in his community, Eziama Achara, Uturu, located in the Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.
In his address to over 500 new entrants into the party, Hon. Odoeme highlighted the party’s dedication to social justice and governance that prioritizes the needs of the people.
The occasion, which served as both a formal induction ceremony and a strategic engagement session, aimed to fortify the party’s grassroots structures in anticipation of upcoming political cycles.
He revealed that the event also served as a targeted grassroots mobilisation initiative to solidify support for the Labour Party in Uturu as the state approaches the 2027 general elections.
He emphasized that this initiative reflects his approachability and strong connection with the community.
Hon. Odoeme characterized the Labour Party as an expanding political family in Uturu, pointing out that the increasing number of new members signifies public trust in Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
He contended that numerous residents are aligning with the party due to what he referred to as purposeful governance and noticeable transformation throughout Abia State.
“The surge of new members joining the Labour Party in Uturu clearly demonstrates the community’s yearning for effective and people-focused leadership.”
“Our doors are open to all who aspire for a new direction for our state. Today transcends mere numbers; it is about cultivating a collective vision for sustainable progress from the grassroots level,” he stated.
He also remarked that high-profile inductions and ongoing community engagement are essential for strengthening the party’s influence throughout Abia State. With the increasing trend of defections and new memberships, he asserted that the Labour Party is strategically poised to convert this momentum into a powerful political force in the months ahead.
The event came to a close with an official registration process and a community reception, which strengthened the bond between the party leadership and the new members.
