APC State House Primary: Desmond Elliot Stands Tall In The Face of Intimidation
The just concluded primary of the All Progressive Congress ( APC ) in Surelere Constituency 1,¡ though very peaceful was charaterised by vote buying and intimidatñon of Desmond Elliot supporters.
In the venues of his stronghold, election materials did not arrive on time and most of his supporters who arrived very early were locked out, preventned from entering Paddington field, on the excuse that some of them were carrying fake voters slip,
Desmond Elliot in Paddington field pleaded for his locked out supporters to be allowed to come in and vote, or else, he will withdraw his agents. As at the time he left the venue, by 12pm, nothing was done to effect his plea. No accreditation, nothing. Meanwhile, other venues were already done with accreditation and were about to commence voting.
Iponri and Alaka housing estates was characterized by massive vote buying. In all, it was a peaceful election, but not on a level playing ground.
