Award-winning Nollywood actress, producer and eye health advocate, Faith Paul Onahi J, has built a career inspiring audiences on screen while dedicating her life to restoring hope through humanitarian service. Behind the smiles, however, lies a remarkable story of survival, resilience and unwavering faith.
In an exclusive conversation with CREEKVIBES, the actress opened up about a series of life-threatening experiences that have shaped her outlook on life and strengthened her resolve to make every moment count.
Her journey has not been without painful trials. Before 2019, she underwent a complicated appendicitis surgery that, despite the risks involved, ended successfully. Later, in 2019, she faced another major health battle when she was diagnosed an ailment, a challenge that tested both her physical strength and emotional resilience.
Just when she thought the worst was behind her, another frightening experience unfolded in 2021. While returning from Ogbomoso after one of the Gifted Hands Eye Care Foundation Charity outreach programmes, the vehicle she was travelling in suddenly caught fire and was completely destroyed.
“By God’s grace, everyone survived what could have ended very differently,” she recalled.
For Faith, that terrifying moment became more than just an escape from tragedy. It reaffirmed her belief that her life is guided by divine purpose.
“Looking back, I still see that day as a powerful reminder that my life is in God’s hands and that He still has a purpose for me to fulfil,” she said.
More recently, the actress survived yet another accident, a fresh reminder of life’s fragility. Yet rather than allowing fear to define her, she has chosen gratitude.
Reflecting on the many challenges she has overcome, Faith credits God’s protection, timely medical intervention and the compassion of people who stood by her during difficult seasons.
“Each experience has strengthened my faith, deepened my gratitude for life and reminded me never to take a single day for granted,” she said. “Rather than allowing those experiences to fill me with fear, they have given me a greater sense of purpose. Every new day is an opportunity to serve, inspire others and make a meaningful impact while I still have the gift of life.”
Beyond discussing her remarkable journey, CREEKVIBES asked the actress to reveal the three things she simply cannot live without.
Without hesitation, she began with the foundation of her life.
“The first is God,” she said. “He is my source of strength and the reason I have been able to overcome every challenge I have faced.”
The second, she explained, is purpose.
“Having a purpose gives me a reason to wake up every day, keep pushing, keep learning and keep believing that my journey is bigger than my present circumstances.”
Finally, she spoke passionately about the value of genuine relationships.
“The third is the people who genuinely love and support me. Over the years, I have learned that family is not always limited to blood. Sometimes, God brings people into your life who encourage you, believe in you and stand by you through every season. Those genuine relationships are priceless, and I never take them for granted.”
