The captivating concept behind the ‘Power of the god’ movie in Cameroon left Cameroonians speechless, and the majority of the viewers concluded that the action flicks must be the handiwork of a Nigerian movie director, but they were all puzzled by the starring of suitable Cameroonian actors who stepped into characters created by our own Hart.

Excerpt;

Have you had an embarrassing moment in the course of making movies?

The movie industry is not as easy as people think, sometimes actors are asked to part with some amount of money to be featured in scenes, and sometimes you may pay and you might not get on scenes. But that shouldn’t make you swerve from your goal.

Many times, you don’t get paid long after you have finished putting in your best for the success of a movie.

There was a scenario where money was demanded from me before I could be featured in a movie by a particular production manager, though he later became a director in the industry, now he begs me to give him roles. See how the table turned within a short period, so in a nutshell, don’t allow an embarrassing moment to dissuade you from your targets.

I don’t rush to produce a movie for the sake of it, but if I do two or three movies with great impacts within a year, I will be fulfilled.

What was your experience in Togo?

When I got to Togo for a 3-day training, someone contacted me for a movie simply because he has seen my dexterity; he begged me not to charge but he quickly made transport money available so, I could come to his movie location.

I meet with Hon. Dabur Amos Mzahan, the man was the president of the African Diaspora Forum (ADF) Togo, West African chapter, who took me around.

For the person that requested Five Thousand naira from you, don’t you think, the same person will request ‘bed warming pleasure’ from the opposite sex?

That happens occasionally, many talented young girls in the movie industry had such encounters and they ended up bed-warming their way to the scenes.

I was in a location where a guy brought in a little boy and molested the boy; after we interrogated him we discovered he is a homosexual.

There was also a scenario of two girls that were slept with but couldn’t get the promised role so, one of them started to make trouble, she said, ‘after sleeping with me I was not given a role,’ it was a tense situation but we were able to cup it.

In the end, those guys that indulge in ‘dating roaching’ it limits their growth some of those roaching has repercussion; they are all uncalled for.

If you have a relationship with a lady, it’s a different ball game, and it is not everyone you must collect money from, majority of them have talents but don’t have money so, you could encourage them by giving them ‘waka-pass’ roles, and from there, they grow.

Some of them did not even register with the Actors Guild of Nigeria so they have got no one to report sexual abuse to.

If for you as a director, some girls visited you and want you to have sex with them for you to give them roles, how will you handle them?

Talking from experience, those girls usually know the kind of person you are before they drop such a proposal on your table.

For me, I will always announce to them in the camp that if they can’t step into the characters I want, they must leave my location.

I am a teacher as well, and through my teaching, I’ve made a tremendous impact on so many people’s lives.

Usually, I lecture those girls not to cheapen themselves for movie roles.

Tell us about the encounter that almost took your life.

Yeah not my life but, the life of one of my actors, I was on location with HarryB, the movie was related to spiritism and has to do with those girls from the Marine kingdom, do you know what happened? About two days to call it a wrap, a girl and a boy started manifesting Marine spiritism, and people thought they were going to die.

Everyone started praying to rebuke the postulated demons, I quickly called on one of my girls to rush down to my tent, and get me a bottle of anointed oil, as she was going the spirit took her too, and she started manifesting.

One of my guys who smokes hemp started to bind and cast with prayers.

General laughter… ganja man turn pastor… (laughs continue.)

That means he also has a spirit of God in him, but at the end of it, God took control, my prayer was that no one should die in my location.

Earlier on when some actors engaged in physical combat that attracted  the Army, they were severely dealt with, when they came all they were shouting was that ‘who is the director?!’ As if the director was the one who ordered them to fight.

They took the fighters to the barracks and ordered the director to visit the barracks. I was afraid initially, but I went to the village chief’s house and explained to him so, we went to the barracks together, and the issue was solved amicably, but the fighters were flogged for constituting a nuisance within the community.

The next day I told some of them that were done with their roles to leave the camp.

In the movie-making, you will meet all sorts of people.
