Davido celebrates Osimhen, Oshoala’s nominations for Balon d’Or
The two Nigerian superstars made history as they got nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in world football
Nigeria music star Davido has celebrated Nigerian footballers Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala for their 2023 Balon d’Or nominations.
For the first time since 1999, a Nigerian male footballer was nominated for the Balon d’Or. Also, it was the first time a male and a female Nigerian player would be nominated for football’s top prize.
Osimhen and Oshoala had great campaigns with their clubs last season. Osimhen pushed Napoli to Serie A glory, scoring 26 goals in the process. He also became the first African player to win the Capocannoniere.
Meanwhile, Oshoala was also brilliant for Barcelona Femini last season. She registered 26 goals and six assists in 37 appearances in the run-up to their Laliga and Champions League triumph.
Following their nominations, Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido took to his X page to celebrate the two footballers.
