Sanwo-Olu announces 25% reduction in transport fare, three-day work, subsidy on some drugs

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a 25 per cent slash in transport fares for government-owned transport schemes.

The Lagos State governor’s intentions are itemize below;

  1. Now, 3 working days for Civil Servants levels 0-14,
    4 days for levels 15-17 but teachers remain 5 days because of students exams and special transport arrangements in place to reduce the pressure on teachers.
  2. 100 trailers of rice for 300,000 households soon.
  3. Re-introduction of Sunday Markets for subsidised goods at selected places.
  4. Subsidy on some drugs.
  5. No more ‘show of tax receipt’ in public schools to bring students back to school.
  6. Re-introduction of 25% transport rebait/subsidy in Lagos and lots more.
    Lagos is working! I have a working governor, not a talking one!
    One or more of these positive moves by a sensitive government will touch you soonest.

Sanwo-Olu, who made this announcement during a live media chat tagged: ‘Sanwo Speaks,’ on Thursday, said that civil servants from levels 1–14 will begin to work three days a week as part of measures to ease the economic challenges for residents.

He explained that the forum was meant to intimate residents of measures adopted to reduce the economic burden on Lagosians.

The governor noted that workers in the teaching sector will, however, maintain the five-day-a-week work schedule, while the government will ensure additional transportation support for them.
