Under-graduate spends 6.5m, dies during plastic surgery

24 Year Old Undergraduate

Kwon Dae-hee, a 24-year-old university student from South Korea, spent 6.5 million Won (about £3,800) for plastic surgery to enhance his appearance. Tragically, he passed away during the procedure. Hospital officials contacted his brother, Kwon Tae-hoon, informing him that Kwon was in the hospital but in a non-serious condition.

Upon discovering his death, Kwon’s mother, Lee Na Geum, requested CCTV footage of the surgery. The footage revealed nurses cleaning blood from the floor multiple times during the operation.

Stephanie Soo from the Rotten Mango podcast highlighted that Kwon lost a significant amount of blood during the surgery. Kwon’s mother meticulously reviewed the footage, noting every detail. It was discovered that the main plastic surgeon left the operating room an hour into the surgery, leaving a less experienced doctor to complete the procedure.

This practice of using “ghost doctors” is common in plastic surgery, where a qualified surgeon starts the operation and then hands it over to another doctor.
