As the governorship election in Anambra State approaches on November 8, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has revealed that prospective candidates will be required to pay N30 million for the nomination and expression of interest forms.

This announcement was made by Ifeanyi Mbaeri, the National Organising Secretary of APGA, in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday. Mbaeri further indicated that the party has instituted a five percent discount for female candidates and individuals with disabilities.

The sale of these forms is scheduled to commence on February 28 and conclude on March 20, with screening for the aspirants taking place on March 28 at the APGA National Headquarters in Abuja. He underscored that this decision aligns with the party’s constitution and adheres to the timeline established by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Anambra State Governorship Election. Mbaeri stated, “In accordance with Articles 12 (2) & (3)(b) and 24 of the APGA Constitution 2019 and in compliance with INEC’s schedule of activities for the Anambra State Governorship Election, the National Executive Committee of APGA, through its National Working Committee, has sanctioned a provisional timetable for the governorship primary election.”

The party’s special state congress and primary election are set for April 5, with Mbaeri noting that the party leadership retains the authority to modify the dates and schedules as necessary.
