Tinubu extends CG Customs tenure by one year

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, whose term is set to conclude on the 31st of August, 2025, has cause to exhale with relief due to the extension of his tenure.
CG Adeniyi’s tenure has been prolonged by an additional year.
As stated by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, this extension will allow the CG to solidify ongoing reforms and finalize essential initiatives currently underway in his administration.
The reforms and initiatives encompass the modernization of the Nigeria Customs Service; the execution of the National Single Window (NSW) Project; and the fulfillment of Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
The statement partially reads: “President Tinubu acknowledges Mr. Adeniyi’s unwavering leadership and dedication to service.
“The President is assured that this extension will further enhance the Nigeria Customs Service in fulfilling its strategic objectives of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
