He hits the ground running as soon as he assumed office, already armed with a clear road map of his objectives, mission and goals. Hon Uche Harris Okonkwo, member, representing Idemili North and South in Anambra State obviously came into politics with a clear vision of what he wants done and the millages he intends to cover. Armed with this intention, he has been able to achieve huge millages in governance in the first 2 years of his 4 years, in his first tenure. His people calls him the new breed politician because of his commitment, dedication and sacrifices.

Okonkwo’s activities are applauded by members of his constituency, following a recent appraisal of his 2 years robust activities. He speaks boldly and confidently at the National Assembly and his imputs can be felt via the various committees in which he chaired or was vice chairman respectively.

To him, his office in Abuja is like a stone throw to his constituency in Anambra State as his people can always feel his presence, rubbing minds with them on areas of urgent attention and progression. He moves from one location to another holding meetings and liasing with most of the representatives since he sees himself as the servant leader. Okonkwo’s passion and zeal is not just in service, but a role model to the younger generations to see that service is more about commitment to the people than self elevation or acquiring of status and wealth. Obviously, apart from his zeal, age is also in his favour, hence, his vibrate resourcefulness and energy.

By the end of his tenure as a first timer in the political waters of a country like Nigeria, Okonkwo would have written his name in the sky and not only in the sand of time, as his robust achievements ranges from education, health, infrastructure to empowerment and social amenities can be seen and felt.

In the area of infrstructure Okonkwo did the Construction/Rehabilitation of community road at Abatete, he constructef a six-classroom block at UPS Amafor Nkpor, went as far as renovating of Block C building at Notre Dame High School, Abatete… He Scheduled maintenance of the Administrative Block at Community Primary School, Obosi,. Construction of a recreation arena for Community Primary School, Oba, including the . Construction of Cassava Processing Plant at Oba,. Construction of Ojoto Road linking Oba,. Construction of solar powered borehole at Nnobi.

In the area of ducation, he made payments Payment of fees for 250 JAMB candidates and scholarships for 500 Anambra students.. He Attracted a modern ICT centre at Boys Secondary School, Ojoto.and also attracted grants for university students.

On Social Amenities, Okonkwo brought the Installation of solar-powered street lights across various communities in Idemili North and South, eg Ogidi, Nkpor, Obosi, Ojoto, Ideani, Nnobi, Awka-Etiti amongst others. He Supplied food items to 5,000 households, including the elderly, widows, and people living with disabilities.. Reticulation of a solar-powered borehole in three villages at Nnobi (awarded) and donation of Shuttle bus to Idemili South L.G.A workers. He Support the rebuildingof the community hall at Oba (awarded) Repair/Maintenance of transformers at Ogidi.
Reticulation of borehole water at the Health Centre, Amafor Nkpor (awarded). Including Attracting of relief materials for people affected by floods and gully erosion.

In Empowerment, he commenced the Training of women and youths on renewable energy, including solar, biomass, hydropower, and wind energy.
Empoweed women and youths with strategic renewable energy skills in Nnokwa.He also embacked on a. Bio-gas production training for Eziowelle youths and women, in addition of . empowerment of artisans with sewing machines, grinding machines, POS machines, clippers, and cash grants.. Empowerment of farmers with 50kg bags of urea fertilisers. He also gave. Business grants to 100 SME owners and Training of Youths on digital skills acquisition.He. Attracted climate adaptation, resilience, peace-building awareness, and sensitization for stakeholders.He. Facilitatef the federal government employment for professionals in Idemili North and South and Facilitation of Trade and tech training for Idemili youths in China.

In the National Assembly, Okonkwo is a voice to be reckon with. He spoke with boldness, confident and clarity on all his subject of discuss to the admiration of all members of his constituency, inrespective of their their age.
