Turaki: Jigawa is Safe, still attracts Investment

Jigawa

The former governor of Jigawa Sate, Dr. Ibrahim Saminu Turaki whose tenure in office between 1999 to 2007 witnessed a huge collaboration between the north and the south and also attracted foreign investors to the state, has stated that Jigawa remains one of the safest state in Nigeria today.

He made this statement during a conversation with Clementina Olomu, the President, Giant Women in Media.

It would be recalled that the various potentials of the growing state was well publicised in his tenure, which exposed the huge advantages of the use of solar as an alternative source of electricity, as a section in that state was already enjoying 24 hours electricity via this use, even when Nigeria was not thinking in that direction, Turaki saw the future in that direction that solar was an alternative source of energy.

His adventures for vast modern technology was highly applauded and his legacies in information technology ICT remains a top notch worthy of being emulated by various government agencies as a way for advancing the various sectors of Nigeria.

Turaki founded the Galaxy Information Technology and Telecommunication (GITT) in the year 2000, barely a year into his first term as a governor and GalaxyITT became the first broadband satellite network in Nigeria. This made Jigawa therefore, the first state in Nigeria to commence interactive distance learning program and video conferencing through GITT.
