The eagerly awaited 2024/2025 edition of the Olota Cup commenced on Monday, November 24, 2025, featuring a lively opening ceremony that reaffirmed the Awori Kingdom’s strong dedication to youth empowerment and the development of grassroots sports.
His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D., the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Otta land, Awori Kingdom, officially opened the tournament at the Bells University Stadium, located in Ota, Ogun State. The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, traditional leaders, academic figures, and sports enthusiasts from the surrounding area.
In his welcoming speech, His Majesty commended the organizing committee, headed by Mr. Olaniyi Akinbode, CEO and Publisher of Travellers Network Magazine, for their commitment and achievements in consistently hosting both the Olota Cup and the Olota Marathon.
Kabiyesi encouraged the participating schools to view the tournament not merely as a competition, but as an opportunity to foster unity, display talent, and explore future careers in football. He highlighted the significance of discipline, professionalism, and excellence as essential principles for the youth.
