CSP Adamu Receives Award At Hightower Global Church

By Daniel Ekiye

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ipaja Division, CSP Hauwa Idris Adamu, has received a premium recognition award from Hightower Global Church, presented by the Global Prophet, Olawale Ikotun.
The presentation took place during a church service on Sunday, March 1, 2026, in what appeared to be a symbolic return gesture, as the senior police officer had earlier honoured the cleric with an award on February 1, 2026.
While addressing the congregation after receiving the award, CSP Adamu—known for her firm but approachable leadership style—light-heartedly observed that many congregants were initially reluctant to applaud her.
She reminded them that beyond the police uniform, she remains a woman and a human being who deserves recognition.
Raising the plaque high, she encouraged the congregation to celebrate her, a gesture that eventually drew loud cheers from worshippers.

“Praise the Lord. When my daddy said ‘celebrate her,’ a lot of you did not want to celebrate me. Before becoming a police officer, I am a woman, and I am a human being, so please celebrate me,” she said.
The DPO described the recognition as a significant moment in her career, noting that it was the first time she had received such an award.
“Me putting on this uniform does not make me different from you. I am only working within the ambit of the law. If you are on the right side of the law, you will like me. On behalf of myself, my family and all the officers of Ipaja Division, I appreciate this award,” she added.
CSP Adamu also used the occasion to encourage members of the church to cultivate patience and mutual understanding in their daily interactions, stressing that such virtues help prevent conflicts within society.
According to her, many disputes arise from ignorance of the law and unnecessary threats during disagreements.
She explained that threatening another person—such as saying “Do you know who I am? I will deal with you”—could legally amount to an assault because it instils fear in the other person.
The police officer further reiterated the meaning behind the popular slogan, “The Police is your friend,” noting that law enforcement officers often risk their lives to protect citizens.
“If armed robbers enter your house at night, your family members cannot help you; the only people who will call for are the police. That is why we say the police are your friends. We are awake while others are asleep,” she said.

Highlighting her commitment to community policing, CSP Adamu revealed that she frequently patrols Ipaja and its surrounding areas to ensure the safety of residents.
“There is hardly a time you will see a police vehicle on the road without my presence. You may not even know it is me, but I am there because it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of everyone in Ipaja and its environs,” she said.
She expressed appreciation to the church leadership for the honour and prayed for continued blessings upon the congregation.
