Imo LP alleges irregularities, calls for cancellation of results

Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Saturday’s Imo governorship election, Sen. Athan Achonu, has called for a cancellation of results from some polling units over alleged irregularities.

Achonu made the call while speaking with newsmen in his hometown, Umulumo, in Ehime Mbano council area of Imo, on Saturday.

He said that agents of his party returned with disturbing reports of hijacking of ballot boxes and other electoral materials as well as vote buying.

He added that the LP had officially written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for requisite action and called for the cancellation of results emanating from the affected locations.

INEC adjourns state collation of results in Bayelsa, Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned the state collation of results for the Bayelsa governorship election.

The Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta announced this late Saturday at the INEC Collation Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

He said the collation will now take place by 10:00 am on Sunday. The election had been concluded in most parts of the state on Saturday evening.

Similarly, INEC has announced that the Collation of results in the Off Cycle Governorship Elections in Kogi State will commence at 10 am on Sunday.

Kogi Guber: APC’s Ododo wins Yahaya Bello’s polling unit

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state, Usman Ododo, has won the polling unit of Yahaya Bello, the incumbent governor of the state.

Ododo, according to the result at polling unit 11, Agassa, Okene LGA, Kogi, scored 840 votes while his close challengers — Murtala Ajaka, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Dino Melaye of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — did not have any vote.

Ododo had also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of security operatives and commended them for ensuring that things were smooth and peaceful.

INEC suspends elections in 9 wards in Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has suspended elections in nine out of 10 Registration Areas or Wards in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi state.

Mohammed Kudu Haruna, a National Commissioner and Member of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee disclosed this in a statement issued Saturday night in Abuja.

Uzodinma wins polling units in Government House

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State won in the two polling units inside the Government House Owerri, on Saturday.

Uzodinma. who ran on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, is seeking reelection.

The Polling Unit at the front of Government House Chapel 2 Owerri Municipal, captured 38 votes on BVAS and was counted while votes that were cast manually were not counted.

The final result uploaded from that polling unit indicated that the APC had 35 votes, PDP had two and the Labour Party had just one vote.

While at the other polling unit in front of Government House Chapel 1 Owerri Municipal had only the votes captured by BVAS recorded in the final result sheet were uploaded and the governor carried the day
