APC Primaries Update…

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its governorship primary elections across 28 states, producing 25 candidates for the 2027 general elections. Primaries in states like Kogi, Edo, Bayelsa, Anambra, Imo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo are on a different calendar for off-cycle elections.
Concluded state primaries:
• Lagos: Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat emerged as the APC governorship candidate after defeating his opponents with the backing of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Meanwhile, former Labour Party candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour left for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
• Ogun: Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) secured the APC governorship ticket, presenting his result sheet totalling 304,055 votes.
• Rivers: Governor Siminalayi Fubara withdrew from the APC primary to maintain peace, a move acknowledged by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The party has put forth Kingsley Chinda as a leading figure for the state.
• Enugu: Chief Sampson Nnamani won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary, defeating former Minister Chief Uche Nnaji, while the incumbent Governor Peter Mbah was declared the APC flagbearer.
• Plateau: Kefas Ropshik clinched the PDP governorship ticket with 19,938 votes.
• Nasarawa: Following defeat at the APC primary, former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu resigned his membership in the party, citing a lack of fairness in the election process.
